“Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.”
Often, our weariness
does not come from having too much to do,
but from constantly looking at ourselves.
We examine our condition,
our emotions,
our problems,
our shortcomings.
The more we look,
the heavier it feels.
Everything begins to revolve around “me,”
yet “me” is unable to fix any of it.
And so we fall into a cycle—
the more we try to sort ourselves out, the more confused we become;
the more we try to change ourselves, the more powerless we feel.
But God offers a simple direction:
Turn to Me.
This is not avoiding reality,
nor denying what is happening.
It is shifting our focus
from our limited selves
to the limitless God.
When we keep looking inward,
we become confined.
But when our gaze is lifted,
our hearts begin to breathe again.
Many changes
do not begin with trying harder to fix ourselves,
but with turning our eyes toward God.
Turning to Him does not need to be complicated.
Sometimes it is simply a quiet shift—
in the middle of confusion,
gently moving our attention
away from ourselves
and toward Him.
Today, you may still have many things to face,
many unresolved parts.
But you do not have to keep staring at them.
You can look up.
Because when you turn to God,
you may slowly realize—
it is not that your problems have become smaller,
but that God has become greater in your sight.
Prayer
Lord,
I often focus so much on myself
that I become weary.
Help me turn my eyes toward You,
and not be trapped in my own condition.
In the midst of confusion and unrest,
teach me to look to You,
so that my heart may find space and steadiness again.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Reflection
• Have I been overly focused on myself lately?
• How can I turn my attention toward God today?
Today’s Practice
When you find yourself caught in self-focused thoughts today,
intentionally lift your head—even as a simple act.
Quietly say:
“Lord, I turn to You.”
Let your focus
find its direction again.
