“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
Many people can persist for a while,
but find it difficult to keep going over time.
When there is inspiration,
it is easy to engage.
When there are strong feelings,
it is easier to continue.
But when everything becomes ordinary—
no strong emotions,
no visible change—
something inside begins to loosen.
And slowly, spiritual life becomes a cycle
of continuing only when we “feel it.”
But Paul reminds us:
we do not walk by sight,
and not by feeling,
but by faith.
Faith is often not dramatic.
At times, it looks very ordinary.
It may simply be—
choosing to continue when you feel nothing,
remaining faithful when there is no response,
staying when nothing seems to change.
This kind of consistency
is not noticeable, but deeply real.
Like a tree—
it does not bear fruit every day,
but every day it is alive,
absorbing, rooting, growing.
Deep life is rarely built
on moments of intensity,
but on long seasons of quiet stability.
Today, you do not need to wait
until you “feel ready” to continue.
Simply, in an ordinary day,
do one thing you are meant to keep doing—
even if it feels small.
Because true growth
is often hidden
in these unnoticed acts of persistence.
Prayer
Lord,
I often depend on my feelings to decide whether to continue.
When things feel ordinary, I tend to drift.
Teach me to live by faith,
not by emotion,
but by trust in You.
Help me to keep going
even when I feel nothing,
and to grow steady in the ordinary.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Reflection
• Do I only persist when I feel motivated?
• What is one small thing I can remain faithful in today?
Today’s Practice
Today, do one thing
you know you are meant to continue—
even without motivation or feeling.
Quietly say:
“Lord, I choose to continue.”
Let faith
become the strength of your consistency.
