“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
We often confine our spiritual life to certain moments:
morning prayer, evening Scripture reading, quiet time.
But the real challenge is—
can we keep God at the center
in the midst of busy, ordinary, mundane life?
He is not only present in quiet rooms,
or in the times we intentionally set aside for Him.
God’s presence spans the whole day,
all places,
every ordinary moment,
even those we find dull or inconvenient.
Philippians tells us:
bring everything to God in prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving—
this is how we put God at the center of life.
This means:
while washing dishes, in meetings, waiting for the bus, facing challenges,
we can talk to Him;
our hearts can turn toward Him anytime.
As you practice this,
you will notice ordinary life begins to taste different—
because God is in it,
and you are walking with Him rather than merely going through the motions.
Today, you do not need to create a special “holy” moment.
Simply in one ordinary task,
be aware of God’s presence,
and hand that task over to Him.
Prayer
Lord,
I often confine You to certain times and spaces,
forgetting that You are everywhere.
Help me recognize Your presence even in ordinary moments,
and entrust everything to You.
Let my heart remain open to You in busyness,
and walk with You even in the mundane.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Reflection
• Do I only notice God’s presence during set spiritual times?
• Today, in which ordinary task can I place God at the center?
Today’s Practice
During one ordinary activity today, quietly say:
“Lord, I give this to You.”
Let God be the center of your day,
not just your quiet moments.
