“The heart of man plans his way,
but the LORD establishes his steps.”
Throughout life’s journey, we naturally make plans for the future.
We consider our direction, weigh our options, and try to create a stable path ahead. Planning itself is not wrong;
it reflects responsibility and wisdom.
Yet reality is often filled with uncertainty. Many things do not unfold according to our expectations.
When plans are disrupted, we may feel anxious or even question whether we made the right choices.
Proverbs reminds us of a profound truth: we can plan our way, but it is the Lord who establishes our steps.
This means that while we are free to plan diligently, our ultimate security does not rest in those plans.
True stability comes from trusting in God’s guidance rather than in our ability to control circumstances.
God’s leading is often not revealed all at once. Instead, it unfolds step by step as we move forward.
Like a traveler walking at night with a lamp, only a small portion of the path is illuminated,
yet it is enough to reach the destination safely.
When we entrust our future to God, we can experience peace even in uncertainty.
Our direction is not determined by chance but rests in His loving sovereignty.
Today, you may be considering an important decision or reflecting on the future.
Continue to plan, but more importantly, commit your steps to the Lord, trusting that He will provide clarity at the right time.
Prayer
Lord,
thank You for being the One who establishes my steps.
When I feel uncertain about the future, help me to place my trust in Your guidance.
Teach me to plan diligently while remaining humble and surrendered to Your will.
No matter what lies ahead, may I rest in the assurance that You walk with me and faithfully lead me.
Grant my heart peace and confidence in Your presence.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
