“In returning and rest you shall be saved;
in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.”
After we have entrusted something to God,
a quiet struggle often remains—
“What will happen next?”
“When will I see the result?”
Waiting after surrender is often harder than surrender itself.
Because we are no longer trying to control the outcome,
yet the outcome has not yet been revealed.
This “in-between space”
is where anxiety most easily returns.
But God’s way is not urgency or pressure.
It is rest.
“In returning and rest you shall be saved”
reminds us that true stability in life
does not come from constant striving,
but from returning to His presence.
Rest is not inactivity.
It is freedom from being driven by anxiety.
Even when circumstances have not changed,
the heart can become still.
“Quietness and trust” is a form of strength—
not weakness or passivity,
but steady confidence in God amid uncertainty.
Often, what God is doing in the waiting season
is more significant than the outcome we are waiting for.
He is not only shaping circumstances,
but also shaping us.
Today, you may still be in a season where the result is unclear.
You have surrendered, yet your heart still feels restless at times.
In this moment, you can choose to pause
and return to rest again.
Because true strength
does not come from faster answers,
but from deeper trust.
Prayer
Lord,
thank You that You are with me even after I have surrendered.
When anxiety rises during waiting,
lead me back into Your rest.
Help me not be driven by urgency,
but to learn to trust You in quietness.
May Your peace guard my heart
so that I remain steady even when I cannot yet see the outcome.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Reflection
• Do I tend to become anxious again during seasons of waiting?
• How can I intentionally enter God’s rest today?
Today’s Practice
When worry about the outcome arises today,
pause and take a slow breath, then remain still for 30 seconds.
Quietly say:
“Lord, I choose to return to Your rest.”
Let rest
become your strength in waiting.
