“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.”

Many times, we come to God

because something has gone wrong.

When life is smooth, we stay busy.

When difficulty comes, we remember to pray.

Slowly, faith can become a relationship

that we activate only when we need help.

But the life Jesus describes is very different.

“Abide in me.”

To abide does not mean drawing near occasionally,

nor only during moments of spiritual excitement.

It describes a continual connection.

A branch does not attach itself to the vine

only when it needs nourishment.

It remains there constantly.

Life flows through that unbroken relationship.

Many people assume spiritual growth requires

dramatic breakthroughs,

extraordinary experiences,

or moments of powerful revival.

Yet most transformation happens

in ordinary days.

A few quiet moments.

A small prayer.

A portion of God’s Word settling into the heart.

These seemingly small practices

slowly form a steady connection.

And when the connection is steady,

fruit appears naturally.

Today, you do not need to wait for a problem

before turning to God.

Nor do you need to wait until you feel especially spiritual.

Simply turn your heart toward Him

within the rhythm of your day.

Because walking with God

is not something that happens occasionally—

it is a way of living.

Prayer

Lord,

so often I come to You only when I need help.

Teach me what it means to abide in You,

so that my relationship with You

is not occasional but constant.

In the busyness and ordinariness of life,

help me turn my heart toward You again and again.

Let my life grow

in the quiet reality of Your presence.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Reflection

• Do I tend to draw near to God only during difficult times?

• How can I become more aware of His presence in my daily life?

Today’s Practice

Choose an ordinary moment today—

walking, eating, or waiting for something.

Quietly say to God:

“Lord, You are here.”

Let your connection with Him

begin in a simple moment.
